‘Apple of My Eye’

Apple of My Eye is a highly textured piece with tick cardboard cut-outs protruding from the surface of the canvas. It was the second last piece created in the Bloom series.  It was not working for the longest time, it keep wanting to be great, but just couldn’t get there.  So it wasn’t until the very end when it came together! Reflecting back it’s such an amazing process, as the collaged pieces I used to finish this piece were the old pallets of the large blue vase I had just finished. In a way I couldn’t have created this work without creating the others. One literally creates the next, that’s why they are all so unified. This one, too, is one of my favourites. I really let loose. I knew I had nothing to lose. Colour and texture have been the driving force behind Frankie O’s new collage imbued works.
